Angie VanEvery
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Angie VanEvery is an effervescent presence in the office. She brings to her position a BS in Dental Hygiene from USC and over 21 years of providing outstanding dental care to her patients. When you’re in her chair, you know you’re in the hands of a compassionate, dedicated professional who loves what she does. A recipient of the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler Award, Angie says, “I enjoy getting to know my patients, learning about their lives, and hearing updates each time they come to our office.” Angie enjoys outdoor adventures and world travel.
Marissa Pratt
Dental Office Manager/RDA
Marissa Pratt is a dedicated Dental Office Manager and Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) at Smile Roots Dental, bringing both clinical expertise and a passion for patient care to her role. Born and raised in Lakeside, San Diego, Marissa has always had an appreciation for beautiful smiles—something that even played a role in meeting her husband after complimenting his teeth. She pursued her interest in dentistry early on, earning her Registered Dental Assistant license from Grossmont Occupational (ROP) in 2006, and has been committed to the field ever since.
From a young age, Marissa was fascinated by bright, healthy smiles, which naturally led her to a career in dentistry. She finds the greatest fulfillment in helping patients feel confident about themselves and enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life. For Marissa, the moment she knew she had chosen the right profession was realizing the positive impact she makes each day—going home knowing she has helped change someone’s confidence and outlook.
Outside of the office, Marissa is a social and family-oriented person who loves spending time with friends and loved ones. She and her husband have two children who stay active in sports, keeping the family constantly on the go. With much of her immediate family living nearby, she cherishes the opportunity to stay closely connected. In her free time, Marissa also enjoys traveling and attending concerts, always embracing new experiences and making lasting memories.

Bonnie O’Quin
Back floor supervisor
Smile Roots Dental is proud to have Bonnie O’Quin as part of the team as a dedicated Registered Dental Assistant (RDA). With more than 20 years of experience in cosmetic dentistry, Bonnie is known for her gentle, compassionate approach and her ability to help patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their treatment. She takes pride in building meaningful connections with patients and strives to create a positive, welcoming environment where every patient feels cared for and understood.
Bonnie’s passion for dentistry began when she was just 15 years old during a routine dental cleaning. Inspired by a hygienist who spoke so highly about the dental field, her coworkers, and the close relationships she built with patients, Bonnie became interested in pursuing a career in dentistry herself. Soon after, she enrolled in a Regional Occupational Program (ROP) located near her home, beginning the journey toward the career she still loves today. What she appreciates most about working in dentistry is the sense of community and family that comes with caring for patients and working alongside a supportive team.
One of the moments that confirmed Bonnie was in the right profession was seeing the emotional reaction of a patient who finally received the smile they had always deserved. Witnessing the confidence and joy that dental care can bring continues to inspire her every day.
Outside of work, Bonnie enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has been married since she was 19 and often jokes, “When you know, you know.” Bonnie is also a proud mom to twin boys who recently turned 18 and are preparing for college to pursue careers in engineering and chemistry, as well as a 16-year-old daughter who hopes to enter the medical field someday — though Bonnie laughs that it may just be for the chance to wear scrubs all day. Family life keeps her busy, entertained, and grateful every day.
